Atlanta Office Receives Atlanta Red Cross LifeBoard Awards
August 17, 2012
McGuireWoods’ Atlanta office received three awards at the July 31 annual
luncheon and awards presentation for companies participating in the Atlanta
LifeBoard of the American Red Cross.
The office received a Site Award and a Sponsor Award for exceeding its
2011-2012 annual goal for blood donation. The Atlanta office’s blood drives
collected 149 pints, surpassing its goal of 132 pints.
The office also received the Atlanta Corporate Bloodhound Award, which is the
most prestigious award given by the Atlanta LifeBoard each year and recognizes
the company with the highest percentage participation in its sponsored blood
drives. The Atlanta office had a 175 percent participation rate in its four
2011-2012 blood drives.
McGuireWoods’ blood drive committee was able to do this by recruiting donors
from other tenants in the Promenade II building, where the firm’s Atlanta office
is located, as well as from outside the building. McGuireWoods was specially
recognized by the Atlanta LifeBoard for pioneering this approach amongst the
major Atlanta Red Cross blood drive sponsors.
McGuireWoods is the first law firm to receive the Bloodhound Award and the
Atlanta office won it in its first year participating in the Atlanta LifeBoard.
