Offices: Brussels, Belgium

Aviation

McGuireWoods’ practice in Brussels handles a number of different aspects of aviation related matters, including passenger rights cargo claims and ground handling.

The office acts as legal counsel to one of only two restricted ground handlers at Brussels Airport, in both contentious and non-contentious matters including public procurement matters (e.g. securing the status of restricted ground handlers, seek status of service providers for people with reduced mobility), analysing the environmental permit status on various land concessions, and negotiating ground handling agreements (including security package) with airlines and enforcing creditor rights against insolvent airlines (both in Belgium and abroad).

We also advise a producer of certified helicopter simulators in the roll out of its global distribution network.

McGuireWoods’ Brussels representative matters:

  • Frequently advice to a licensed ground handler in both contentious and non-contentious areas such as licenses, concessions, competition and environmental issues.
  • Acting as main legal counsel to a Belgian SME with a global reach, active in the flight simulator business.
