To better meet the needs of our Texas based clients as well as clients doing business in Texas, we expanded our presence through a merger with the law firm of Nickens Keeton Lawless Farrell & Flack LLP on Jan. 1, 2011. With offices strategically located in Houston and Austin, Nickens Keeton brings to McGuireWoods more than 160 years of combined experience in complex civil cases of all types in Texas and across the country, including matters related to securities, breach-of-contract, fraud, tortious interference, and ERISA. Among the most respected trial lawyers in Houston, their experience also includes cases at the appellate level in state and federal courts.

To enhance our representation of some of the leading energy companies in the world, David L. Ronn and Peter del Vecchio have joined the firm as partners in our expanding energy group. Each has more than 20 years of experience representing national and international clients in a variety of business matters.

Ronn represents clients in a wide range of corporate and securities matters, with a particular focus in the energy and technology industries, including mergers and acquisitions of public and private entities, master limited partnerships, and initial and secondary public offerings, among many others. He is a LEED-accredited professional, sits on the boards of the U.S. Green Building Council and the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, and has worked on various energy efficiency and green building projects.

Del Vecchio represents developers, contractors, owners, and financiers of power plants and other energy production facilities; and handles transactional matters dealing with energy and infrastructure. Many of these projects have included pipelines, gas storage facilities, transmission lines and other product transportation systems, transportation and other infrastructure projects.

Our Houston team has local, national and international experience working with Fortune 500 companies and their officers, directors, and special litigation committees in derivative and class action lawsuits; government agencies and public funds in securities class actions; individual investors, brokers, and brokerage firms in arbitrations before the NYSE, NASD and FINRA; and in lawsuits in state and federal courts. We also represent brokers, brokerage firms, and traders in regulatory investigations initiated by government and self-regulatory organizations, including the SEC, CFTC, NYSE, NASD and FINRA.

Selected work also includes representing investment professionals and others in criminal investigations; former Enron executives in state and federal lawsuits and congressional, regulatory, and criminal investigations; and the City of Houston, the Harris County Sports Authority, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in litigation involving tax and contractual issues.
