McGuireWoods established its California office in 2005, in response to the expanding business and legal needs of our West Coast and other clients. The Los Angeles team concentrates significantly on labor and employment, commercial litigation and real estate matters. With the April 1, 2006, addition of the 40 lawyers from the L.A.-based law firm Van Etten Suzumoto & Becket LLP, our capabilities are significantly enhanced.

In labor and employment arena, our wealth of experience encompasses every aspect of the employment relationship, including but not limited to class action litigation, labor relations, union avoidance training, employment discrimination, employee benefits, and wage and hour law.

On the commercial litigation front, we have dozens of first chair trial lawyers who litigate before state, federal and local administrative agencies; and in all arbitration forums, domestic and international. Their experience includes class action and construction litigation, e-commerce, intellectual property, patents, as well as antitrust and trade regulation.

Our real estate practice includes extensive experience in a wide range of traditional and non-traditional real estate transactions including acquisition, sale, leasing and financing transactions, as well as project finance, synthetic leases, sale-leasebacks, public-private partnerships, negotiation of local and state incentives and privatization transactions.

The Los Angeles market is seated in the second most populous city in the United States, with nearly 4 million residents. Services, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, government, financial services, transportation, and utilities and construction, contribute significantly to the local employment base.
