Reflective of his professional experience, Tom Brown has been recognized for 25 years in The Best Lawyers in America for corporate law and healthcare law. He has had broad experience in all aspects of the organization, operation and sale of closely held corporations, partnerships and limited-liability companies in the high technology, government contractor, retail, real estate and professional service fields. In the healthcare arena, he has represented hospitals, medical practices, nursing homes and retirement homes. He has also had significant experience in advising tax-exempt organizations involved in educational, healthcare and trade association activities.

A recognized leader in the Virginia legal profession, Tom has been President of both the Virginia Bar Association and the Virginia Law Foundation. He has chaired both the Business and Healthcare substantive law sections of the Virginia State Bar. He co-chaired a Joint Bar Committee that oversaw the most recent comprehensive revision of the Virginia Stock Corporation Act.

He has also found time to be active in various civic and community activities. The Attorney General of Virginia asked him to serve on the initial Board of Directors of the tax-exempt Northern Virginia Health Foundation for which he was the first Board Chair. He is the pro bono general counsel for the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership. He has been on the Board of Visitors of Davidson College since 2005 and received an Alumni Service Award from the Davidson College Alumni Association in 2012.
