Philip has unique depth of experience as a litigator and is office managing partner of the firm’s New York office. He litigates in a wide range of high-profile industries and business sectors, including energy (particularly natural gas and mineral rights), as well as complex commercial litigation, mass torts and products liability. He has acted for several years as national counsel for Fortune 300 companies in asbestos litigation pending throughout the United States.
Currently and throughout his career, Phil's experience derives from acting as lead counsel in high-profile mass tort cases. He acts as a defense liaison counsel in litigation pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York brought by clean-up workers alleging injuries related to their work in buildings after the September 11th terrorist attacks. He has also acted for many years as a liaison counsel for the New York City Asbestos Litigation (NYCAL) medical defense group, a group which oversees medical and other major issues faced by defendants in the NYCAL.
Handle client litigation/arbitrations and counseling related to stock purchase and asset sale agreements (particularly indemnification and assumption of liabilities).
Advise on litigation/arbitration related to gas royalty disputes, including complex class actions and related proceedings.
Handle litigation/counseling in mineral rights disputes.
Serve as national counsel for major companies in defense of thousands of asbestos-related claims throughout the country.
Handle litigation defending mass tort claims pending in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, brought by clean-up workers after the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Representation of generating company related to environmental compliance and permitting issues for power generating stations, including complex issues under the federal Clean Water Act and defense of citizens’ suit claims.
Handle litigation and counseling on a wide array of contract and business tort issues.
