Bill has an extensive background in the litigation of commercial and product liability cases, and he has developed particular depth in the management of national product liability defense litigation for more than 30 years. His primary emphasis is in the representation of manufacturers of consumer and industrial products, including automobiles and automotive components, chemicals, and industrial equipment.

Bill is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation; and he has served on numerous committees of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Virginia Bar Association. He has authored a number of articles and has lectured widely on the management of national mass litigation. William is chairman of the board of trustees for Dartmouth College, legal counsel for the YMCA of Greater Richmond and for the capital region of the American Red Cross.

After earning his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, Bill completed a fellowship in Athens, Greece.
