Antitrust
Doing business in a global environment requires experience and up-to-date knowledge not only of U.S. federal and state antitrust laws, but also of the laws of the European Economic Community and other countries. Our Life Sciences Industry Group's antitrust lawyers serve foreign and domestic companies, trade associations, and individuals as business counselors, trial lawyers and agency professionals throughout the world in virtually every significant area of antitrust and trade regulation law.
We have experience in three principal areas: government investigations and litigation; mergers and acquisitions; and business counseling. Our trial lawyers have built solid reputations in matters involving civil and criminal antitrust matters by regularly appearing before courts and tribunals throughout the United States and in Europe involving a broad range of matters such as cartels, parallel civil/criminal proceedings, civil class actions, and arbitrations. Our antitrust lawyers also have many years of experience in obtaining Hart-Scott-Rodino clearance from the Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice for mergers and acquisitions. Moreover, as business counselors, our antitrust lawyers focus on preventing litigation from arising in the first place by preparing antitrust audits, assessing and implementing compliance programs, and providing employee training programs.
Our lawyers have applied their antitrust experience in the life sciences industry by assisting clients with designing marketing and distribution systems that comply with antitrust laws, advising clients on pricing and distribution issues, structuring joint ventures and strategic alliances, and conducting antitrust audits and compliance programs. Among the 10 largest healthcare law firm in the United States, McGuireWoods' lawyers have access to attorneys experienced in corporate law, finance, tax, international trade, customs, labor and employment, and telecommunications to create effective, cost efficient solutions to client problems in antitrust challenges.
