Ms. Miller is a litigator and counselor who combines responsive, practical advice with effective litigation strategies to obtain optimum results for clients. She focuses her practice on business litigation, business torts, contractual disputes, employment law, and appellate procedure. When problems evolve into lawsuits, she represents clients in federal and state courts in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and other venues across the country. She also represents clients in arbitrations and administrative agency proceedings.

Outside of the courtroom, Ms. Miller advises clients on a broad range of business issues, including corporate governance, unfair competition laws and strategies, and all aspects of employee relations and human resources. She has extensive experience with workplace investigations, developing policies and procedures, and litigation risk avoidance. Prior to law school, she worked for several years in the areas of human resources and public policy. She also earned a master's degree in public administration, with emphasis in human resources.


Representative Matters
  • Litigated and resolved a complex, intra-corporate dispute involving arbitration proceedings, a separate suit in state court seeking to enforce a director's rights, and an internal board investigation into alleged director misconduct.
  • Obtained federal court jury verdict in a race discrimination suit on behalf of a Fortune 500 company, and defended the verdict at the appellate level.
  • Litigated and resolved a major unfair competition suit in state court between two construction companies involving alleged misappropriation of trade secrets, conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duty of loyalty, and other business torts.
  • Defended and resolved class and collective action disputes, including defeating motions for class certification, involving claims under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, Employee Retirement Income System Act, and other employment statutes.
  • Obtained favorable arbitrator award in a traditional labor dispute involving drug testing practices on behalf of Fortune 100 company.
  • Oversaw large team of attorneys conducting internal inquiry into a major corporation's accounting and other fiduciary issues.
