Mr. Funari's work is focused in three primary practice areas: business litigation; general commercial litigation; and franchising and distribution law. He practices before federal and state courts across the country, and has handled jury trials, bench trials, public and private arbitrations and mediations. He has also handled appellate matters before the Pennsylvania appellate courts and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 3rd and 9th Circuits. His experience includes the representation of public and private corporations, railroads, institutions of higher education and private clients in a variety of matters including contract disputes, business torts, real estate disputes and employment matters. Additionally, Mr. Funari has experience in municipal law, representing both municipalities and private clients. In 2004, he served on a team of attorneys appointed to develop and implement a financial recovery plan for the City of Pittsburgh. He is a member of McGuireWoods' Energy Litigation Group, Distribution and Franchise Group, and the firm's E-discovery and Coal Teams.

Mr. Funari is very active in his community and the Allegheny County child welfare system, in particular. He is a director of Pressley Ridge, a multimillion-dollar nonprofit organization delivering an array of services to troubled and developmentally challenged children in nine states and three countries. Since 2000, he has served as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Allegheny County representing abused and neglected children within the child welfare system to ensure that children involved with the juvenile court system have a safe, supportive and permanent home. He also volunteers his time recruiting and fundraising for Allegheny County CASA.
