On behalf of employers and management, Mr. Steen litigates claims and counsels clients pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), the National Labor Relations Act, and the Labor Management Relations Act.

Mr. Steen also has extensive experience litigating collective (a/k/a "class") actions pursuant to the FLSA throughout the United States.

On behalf of ERISA pension and welfare plans and plan sponsors, Mr. Steen also has extensive experience litigating pension, disability and severance claims in federal courts in many parts of the country, and has an active labor law arbitration and counseling practice.

While at the University of Virginia, he was Articles Development Editor of the Virginia Law Review, and was elected to the Order of the Coif and the Raven Society. After graduating from law school, he clerked for the Hon. J. Harvie Wilkinson III, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

He is an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he teaches an employment law seminar, and is a frequent lecturer on employment law issues.
