Mr. McIntyre is chairman of the firm's Government Investigations Department. He counsels clients in the areas of federal and state securities laws, accountants' liability, class actions against publicly held corporations, qui tam litigation, and investigations by various federal and state government entities involving civil and criminal matters.
He has appeared in federal and state courts, before the American Arbitration Association, and has represented individuals before the SEC. He is an internal and external firm resource on attorney-client privilege and the work product doctrine, and he has made numerous presentations and speeches on these subjects to McGuireWoods' attorneys and clients.
- Representation of a Sunbeam officer in the securities class action, In Re Sunbeam Securities Litigation, 98-8258-Civ-Middlebrooks.
- Representation of a Big Four accounting firm in securities and other claims arising from bankruptcy of Conner Corporation asserting $100 million plus damages.
- Representation of a large telecommunications company including a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over a shareholders agreement.
- Representation of a number of public companies in federal securities class actions, many of these cases were favorably resolved prior to trial.
- Representation of public companies in SEC investigations.
- Multiple representations of individuals before the SEC in ongoing investigations.
