Mr. Van Etten is managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. Prior to merging with McGuireWoods in April 2006, he served as managing partner of the Los Angeles firm Van Etten Suzumoto & Becket. He was also previously a partner in the Los Angeles office of the international firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman), where he was the partner in charge of the firm’s Southern California Employment and Labor Group.

He has more than 20 years experience representing and counseling employers in an array of industries, including the financial services, automotive manufacturing, oil and gas, health care, and food and drug industries. He serves as counsel for employers in all types of employment litigation matters, including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, employment discrimination and wage and hour disputes.

His practice also includes representation of clients in complex commercial litigation including class actions, unfair business practice claims, partnership disputes, shareholder disputes, real property claims and insurance matters. He has served as lead counsel in more than 50 jury trials, bench trials and binding arbitrations.
