Ms. Russell's practice has focused on products liability litigation, class actions and complex litigation as well as ERISA benefits and insurance coverage litigation. She has served as chair of the firm's Products Liability and Litigation Management Department, and co-leads the life sciences industry team.
She has defended companies in cases involving prescription and over-the-counter medications, implantable drug delivery systems, ventilators, surgical closure devices, surgical instruments and equipment, orthopedic fixation device, intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD), and publications concerning chemotherapy drugs. She also has advised manufacturers concerning FDA regulatory matters. Ms. Russell has defended automobile manufacturers in "crashworthiness" litigation, including cases involving active and passive restraint systems, automotive glass or glazing, and seating systems. Her litigation experience includes diverse cases involving claims for benefits under ERISA employee benefit plans and under individual or group insurance policies.
Ms. Russell is also the firm's representative to the Center for Public Resources, Inc., an international nonprofit organization of corporate, academic and legal members dedicated to promoting methods of dispute resolution other than traditional litigation.
