Mr. Lawrie is a member of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, and is listed in Who's Who in American Law and Best Lawyers in America. He has more than 30 years experience representing private and publicly held corporations and agencies throughout the United States in employee benefit and executive compensation matters. His work includes the design and implementation of qualified and non-qualified plans, welfare plans, fringe benefits and other arrangements, litigation arising under such arrangements, and the negotiation of employment and severance agreements.
Recent major assignments include reorganizations within exempt and non-exempt affiliated groups to improve plan administration and coverage; restructuring of incentive and other benefits to resolve shareholder conflicts within closely held corporations; funding of retiree medical obligations and restructuring of retiree benefit programs; fiduciary and benefit entitlement litigation; obtaining private letter rulings from the IRS and prohibited transaction exemptions from the Department of Labor; resolving PBGC coverage and prohibited transaction disputes; and advice to boards of directors about the tax, fiduciary and corporate aspects of compensation and other benefits arrangements.
