Mr. Walsh is chairman of the firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Department. He concentrates his practice on trade regulation, but litigates and advises clients on a broad spectrum of issues, including commercial litigation, class actions, franchising, products liability, sports law and white collar crime matters.

He is a past chairman of the Antitrust Section of the Virginia State Bar, and a past chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association. His career as a litigator and legal counselor has been recognized by his inclusion in a number of prestigious publications recognizing achievement in the legal profession, including "Best Lawyers in America," Virginia Business magazine’s "Virginia Legal Elite," "Best of the United States," and "Who’s Who in American Law."

Mr. Walsh has taken many civil cases to verdict in areas ranging from antitrust and commercial litigation, to products liability, defamation and intellectual property matters. He has extensive experience in complex class action and multidistrict litigation; distribution and franchising; auto racing, where he has represented drivers, owners and sponsors associated with NASCAR's NEXTEL Cup series; mediation and arbitration; Consumer Product Safety Commission issues; and product labeling, warnings and instructions.

Mr. Walsh's criminal litigation experience is equally varied. He twice has been appointed by federal judges to criminally prosecute contempt charges against federal agencies or employees, and he has defended a number of criminal price-fixing matters in such diverse industries as paper, highway paving, soft drink bottling, vitamins and insurance. He also has extensive experience representing clients appearing before federal and state grand juries.

For many years, Mr. Walsh has served as an instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in its Southeastern Regional Trial Advocacy Program given each year at the North Carolina University School of Law, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
