Mr. Rak has practiced law in Northern Virginia for more than 15 years. He concentrates on advising purchasers, owners and developers of real estate in the areas of land use, real estate transactions, and environmental counseling.

Land Use Practice

He devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing landowners seeking regulatory approvals to develop property. He has handled land development applications in all major Northern Virginia jurisdictions, including the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax; and the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun and Prince William. Recent projects include the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office relocation to Alexandria, rezoning of the Evans Farm in McLean, and an office park in Reston. As an adjunct to his land use practice, he has developed expertise in historic preservation issues and environmental impact studies.

Real Estate Transactions

He also represents real estate clients in a variety of transactions including purchase and sale of real estate, establishment of property owner associations, easement agreements and subdivisions.

Environmental Counseling

In addition to his traditional real estate practice, he advises purchasers and landowners on environmental liability and regulatory requirements. He has reviewed hundreds of environmental assessment reports, and advised numerous clients on the clean-up of contaminated properties.
