Ms. Duncan's practice focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions and commercial lending. She represents clients in the purchase, sale and operation of retail, hotel and multifamily properties located throughout the United States, including the preparation and negotiation of acquisition, disposition and leasing documents. She also represents financial institutions and borrowers in commercial financing transactions involving real estate acquisition, construction, conduit and permanent loans associated with properties across the United States.
She works with the firm's Restructuring and Insolvency Department on real estate issues involved in loan workouts, restructurings, retail leasing and the ultimate sale of bank-owned real estate. She also focuses on asset-based loans and the real estate components of revolving credit facilities.
Prior to law school, she worked at the collegiate, professional and amateur levels of the sports industry.
- Representation of a major national fast food company and one of its franchisees in the re-leasing of various Virginia properties that were the subject of a prior franchisee's insolvency.
- Representation of a major grocery store chain in purchase and sale-leaseback transactions involving properties across the mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States.
- Representation of a mutual life insurance company in connection with permanent financing secured by retail, office, and multifamily properties located across the eastern United States.
- Representation of a national banking association in the workout and restructuring of construction loans to a national hotel developer for properties located across the United States.
- Representation of a real estate investment trust and its affiliates in the acquisition of residential apartment complex properties located across the United States.
- Representation of a real estate investment trust and its affiliates in the acquisition of numerous hotel properties located across the United States.
