Mr. Miles principally represents corporate defendants in high exposure products liability matters on a national and regional basis. He has tried to verdict numerous matters in federal and state courts in Virginia and other states. He has also represented corporate clients in commercial litigation matters, class actions, warranty and consumer fraud litigation, and personal injury cases.
His practice has involved handling all aspects of defense litigation, including discovery in single, class action and multidistrict litigation; advanced motions practice; corporate witness preparation; development of technical defenses and expert witness testimony; excluding or limiting adverse expert testimony; litigation testing; trial work; and appellate practice.
Mr. Miles has defended claims involving allegations of defect with respect to automobile fuel systems, restraint systems, cruise control systems and transmission systems; as well as allegations of negligence involving firearms, elevators, escalators and other products.
Since 2002, he has served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law, teaching in the area of appellate advocacy. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Miles served as the law clerk to Justice Elizabeth B. Lacy of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
