Mr. Goldstein has an array of products liability, complex commercial, environmental and intellectual litigation experience in state and federal courts on the trial and appellate level and before arbitration tribunals. He has spearheaded McGuireWoods' national counsel representation of two major corporations in defense of asbestos litigation claims throughout the country. He also represents clients in asbestos litigation throughout New York State.

In the New York City Asbestos Litigation, he sits on the defense counsel liaison committee. He also represents one major company as national counsel in silica matters. He has practiced extensively in the energy and environmental areas, including both energy-related litigation, administrative and regulatory proceedings, and counseling on administrative and regulatory compliance.


Representative Matters
  • Mr. Goldstein has addressed diverse issues in courts and before arbitration, administrative and regulatory bodies throughout the country, including:
    • National counsel for two major companies in defense of thousands of asbestos-related claims throughout the country
    • National counsel for a major company in silica matters pending throughout the country
    • Representation of major energy company in complex class action and related litigation
    • Representation of a generating company related to environmental compliance and permitting issues for power generating stations, including complex issues under the federal Clean Water Act and defense of citizens' suit claims
    • Litigation for a major corporation related to its real estate partnership and contractual disputes
    • Federal court trade secret and intellectual property litigation, including expedited discovery, injunction hearings, mediation and settlement, on behalf of a major international company
    • Arbitration and related bankruptcy proceedings related to electricity supply contract dispute
    • Pursuit of claims related to termination of contracts for work at a nuclear generating station
    • Litigation and counseling on behalf of electric/gas utility in many areas, including: analysis of contractual and regulatory issues, litigation and arbitration related to joint ownership and operation of a power plant; litigation related to termination of long-term coal contract; analysis of contractual issues and litigation related to power plant development; and counseling and litigation involving antitrust issues
