Mr. Satterwhite is chief counsel of Knowledge Management for the firm. He tries cases and counsels clients in equal employment opportunity law, sexual harassment, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, wrongful discharge and employer trade secret protection.

His specific areas of practice include Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. He has litigated claims in state, federal and administrative courts, including the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th Circuits. He has also represented corporate clients in responding to administrative charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and in managing investigations conducted by that agency. He counsels clients on the drafting of employment agreements, non-competition agreements, employee handbooks and related employment policies.

Mr. Satterwhite's practice also includes issues relating to the increased prominence of technology in the workplace and the courtroom. He advises clients on the legal issues relating to information systems and technology in the workplace, including issues such as e-mail, Internet access and Internet privacy. He also helps clients develop effective solutions to the growing risks and costs associated with document retention and electronic discovery. He combines an in-depth understanding of technology with recognition of clients' business needs both before and during litigation. He develops document retention policies, electronic discovery readiness plans, litigation hold directives, and works with clients to place them in the best possible position for predicting and minimizing both the costs and risks associated with electronic discovery. During litigation, he assists clients in disputes over the form of production, accessibility of electronically stored information, and similar matters under the revised Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and state law equivalents.

As chief counsel / Knowledge Management, Mr. Satterwhite assists clients in the application of technology to litigation management. He participates in the design and development of extranets for improved attorney-client collaboration and communication, in the context of litigation and transactional work. As a litigator and a former technology consultant, he draws on his experience in both areas to bridge the gap between technology and the practice of law. He can counsel companies on ways to improve efficiency in the delivery of legal services, such as the implementation of case management and litigation support systems.
