Mr. Metjahic is a registered patent attorney licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). He focuses on complex patent litigation, post-grant exparte and inter-parte Patent Office proceedings, patent procurement and portfolio management, including preparation and prosecution, technology transfer, and client counseling. He has experience in a wide range of technologies, including electronics, electrical, software, telecommunications, business method, medical and mechanical arts. He represents a wide range of clients, spanning from small start-ups to Fortune 100 corporations.
Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Mr. Metjahic accrued more than 16 years of experience at the PTO, where he examined patent applications, reissue applications and reexamination applications related to television and facsimile technologies. He also trained and supervised patent examiners in the examination of patent applications, reissue applications and reexamination applications in a variety of technologies, including television, facsimile, telecommunication, radio communication, photography, lithography, projection systems, measuring and testing (including medical device testing and bio-imaging), and database and file management systems.
He has more than 15 years of experience in reexamination practice. Mr. Metjahic has trained and led teams in the handling and examination of high-profile reexamination applications. He has also served as an expert in reexamination practice where he oversaw and supervised the handling and examination of all reexamination applications in a work group of more than 100 examiners.
Mr. Metjahic served on a detail at the PTO's Office of Budget and Planning, where he worked on the strategic plan for the PTO. He also led a number of PTO committees, including one that studied and evaluated every function performed by employees of the office for a report to the Office of Management and Budget. He served as a law clerk at the U.S. International Trade Commission, Office of Unfair Import Investigation in 2003. Mr. Metjahic received a Bronze Medal Award for Superior Federal Service in 2004.
