Ms. Adkins' practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and general civil litigation. She has represented clients in cases involving antitrust litigation, consumer finance litigation defense, consumer class action defense, commodities and securities litigation, civil RICO litigation, fraud, consumer fraud, contract disputes, commercial disputes, and unfair competition laws. She also has experience in insurer liquidation proceedings, insurance coverage and defense, director and officer liability, auditor liability, and bankruptcy preference actions.

She is experienced in all phases of litigation, including preparing and responding to pleadings, discovery requests and dispositive motions; taking and defending depositions; settlement negotiations; conducting oral argument; trial and appellate work; and the negotiation, settlement, and approval of class-wide settlements.

Ms. Adkins has participated in the handling of antitrust matters in federal courts and before arbitration tribunals. Her cases have involved price fixing, market allocation, tying arrangements, cartels, monopolization, attempted monopolization, Robinson-Patman Act claims, and antitrust conspiracies. Her recent experience includes In re Parcel Tanker Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation, which involves the consolidated multi-district class action litigation and related arbitrations of Sherman Act § 1 allegations in the ocean tanker shipping service industry. Along with a McGuireWoods team, Ms. Adkins helped secure a May 2010 victory on behalf of Jo Tankers before the U.S. Supreme Court in Stolt-Nielsen v. Animalfeeds Int'l, 130 S. Ct. 1758 (2010), which held that the respondents could not be compelled under the Federal Arbitration Act to engage in class arbitration where the arbitration agreement was silent on the issue of class arbitration.

Ms. Adkins has represented numerous clients in the financial information services industry. Her experience has included defending class action and individual claims related to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and various state consumer fraud and unfair business practices statutes; counseling clients on compliance with applicable federal and state statutes and regulations; and representing clients in investigations and proceedings conducted by the FTC.
