Mr. Slaughter has served on the firm's Executive Committee and as chairman of the Products Liability and Litigation Management Department. He presently serves as the firm's general counsel. He argued the appeal in Volkswagen of America v. Dreisonstok, and was lead counsel for the principal defendant in the Dalkon Shield litigation from 1975-1985.

He has had broad experience in products liability, litigation management and risk management, and has lectured on these subjects throughout the United States and Europe. He contributed to, and with Donald E. Vinson, edited Products Liability: Pharmaceutical Drug Cases, Shepard's McGraw-Hill (1988). Mr. Slaughter's primary emphasis is on insurance coverages for insureds in mass tort situations. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
