March 13, 2015

Brad Austin, a partner in McGuireWoods’ Charlotte office, has been named to the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2015 “40 Under 40” list, which honors Charlotte-area professionals under age 40 for career achievements and for making their communities better.

Austin and the other winners are featured in the March 13, 2015 edition of the Charlotte Business Journal. The winners also were honored at an awards event March 12 at the historic McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square in Charlotte.

Austin’s law practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and lending, and general corporate work. He regularly represents private equity funds and businesses by assisting with all aspects of structuring, financing, and negotiating the formation, acquisition and disposition of businesses. In addition, Austin played an instrumental role in creating Deal Buzz, an event series led by McGuireWoods associates that emphasizes relationship-building among attorneys and junior private equity professionals.

Notable among Austin’s community betterment activities is Loaves & Fishes, a local emergency food pantry program. He has served on the nonprofit’s board of directors for five years, including a year as its president, and has been credited with helping the organization expand its network of support.

“Brad always brings leadership and dedication to everything he does, whether it’s for the clients of McGuireWoods or for his community,” said Scott Vaughn, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Charlotte office. “We’re impressed with and proud of Brad and we’re thrilled to see him receive this well-deserved honor.”

“It’s humbling to receive this recognition, and to be mentioned in a group that includes so many accomplished, community-minded individuals,” Austin added.
