McGuireWoods’ Katherine Richardson to Clerk for D.C. Circuit Judge David Sentelle

August 9, 2021

Katherine C. Richardson, a McGuireWoods associate in Raleigh, will begin a clerkship with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on Aug. 30, 2021. Her last day at the firm was Aug. 6.

In her new role, Richardson’s responsibilities will include assisting Judge David Sentelle in evaluating his cases, writing bench memos, conducting legal research and helping write case opinions.

Richardson, who joined McGuireWoods in November 2020, represents businesses and institutions in product liability litigation.

“This last year has been the most personally challenging year of my life, as my husband battled blood cancer and a number of life-threatening complications,” said Richardson. “This firm has been absolutely exemplary in its kindness, flexibility, and genuine concern for me and my husband’s well-being throughout this difficult time. I could not have picked a better firm to spend my first, very unorthodox year as a lawyer, and I will never forget the graciousness shown to me here. McGuireWoods is a special place.”

“Katherine has shown amazing tenacity, making her a valuable member of our team,” said partner Diane Flannery, chair of the Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department. “We wish her well in her new role.”
