Awards & Recognitions

The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and Flex-Time Lawyers named McGuireWoods LLP as one of the 2011 Best Law Firms for Women. The award recognizes law firms seen as actively supporting female lawyers with both work/life balance and women-friendly policies, while offering programs to retain and promote top female legal talent. This is the third year McGuireWoods has been named in the survey, now in its fourth year. For more details, read our press release.

The North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys named McGuireWoods the recipient of its 2010 Balance Life Work Place Award in the large firm category. The award recognizes us for our policies that “promote opportunities for attorneys to balance their careers with family, community and other aspects of their lives.”

McGuireWoods Recognized by Working Mother as a “Best Law Firm for Women” – Working Mother, 2009. 

McGuireWoods was named a Top 100 Law Firm for Diversity in 2009 by MultiCultural Law magazine, which also ranked us one of the top law firms for women lawyers and African American lawyers.

In recognition of our commitment to diversity, we were named the inaugural recipient of International Paper's Lighthouse Award for distinguishing ourselves in the area of diversity by example and leadership. We also actively support the DuPont Private Law Firm Network’s Minority Job Bank.

We were awarded the prestigious Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s Thomas L. Sager Award for our commitment to hiring, retaining and promoting ethnic minority lawyers. The MCCA is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization committed to fostering diversity in the legal profession. Several McGuireWoods clients are represented on MCCA’s board of directors; and the firm has been active with MCCA as a member of the Outside Counsel Strategic Planning Committee, and in raising funds to support the association’s Minority Job Bank. We also provided significant support to MCCA’s first annual CLE Expo.
