McGuireWoods is one of only four firms nationwide to earn a coveted top 30 ranking in each of the past 10 years. The Legal 500 UK, 2024 – The Legal 500 UK recognized McGuireWoods London as a leading law firm for commercial real estate in the 2024 guide to top firms in the United Kingdom with a nationwide ranking in the Commercial Property: Corporate Occupiers category.

U.S. News-Best Lawyers, Best Law Firms, 2024 – McGuireWoods earned first-tier national rankings in 23 practice areas and was named “Law Firm of the Year” for banking and finance law in the 2024 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.” The annual report is compiled from client feedback and peer reviews.

The American Lawyer, Industry Awards, 2023 – McGuireWoods was a finalist for the Corporate Purpose Award for creating a Professional Staff D&I Council to advance diversity and inclusion initiatives for business professionals at the law firm and affiliate McGuireWoods Consulting. The firm also was a finalist for Legal Services Innovation for creating a customized, mobile-friendly litigation alert program that automates research about new federal court filings to instantly provide lawyers with the information needed to communicate efficiently with clients.

Austin Chamber, Austin Gives Awards, 2023 – McGuireWoods won an Austin Chamber 2023 Austin Gives Employee Engagement Award in the small business category. The awards recognize companies that promote volunteerism and community engagement with nonprofits.

The Daily Report, Southeastern Legal Awards, 2023 – McGuireWoods received more honors than any other law firm at The Daily Report’s inaugural Southeastern Legal Awards. The firm was selected as “Firm of the Year” and as one of the “Most Innovative Law Firms.”

Financial Times, North America Innovative Lawyers, 2023 – McGuireWoods was shortlisted in two award categories in FT’s 2023 North America Innovative Lawyers Report, earning honors for advising clients in transformational energy and economic development projects. Since 2016, McGuireWoods consistently has ranked among the top firms in the annual report.

JD Supra, Readers’ Choice Awards, 2023 – McGuireWoods and its full-service public affairs arm, McGuireWoods Consulting, were recognized six times for thought leadership and honored as the top firm in healthcare for the fourth consecutive year by JD Supra.

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Pro Bono Law Firm Award, 2023 – McGuireWoods received the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles Pro Bono Law Firm Award for serving as co-counsel in a multiplaintiff lawsuit that challenged practices by the city of Los Angeles related to the confiscation and disposal of unhoused people’s belongings.

The Legal 500 U.S., 2023 – McGuireWoods was recognized as a leading law firm in 42 nationwide practice areas in the Legal 500 United States. The 2023 rankings showcase the firm’s litigation and transactional strength across industries and practice areas, including energy; banking and finance; M&A and private equity; healthcare; corporate investigations and white-collar criminal defense; product liability defense; labor and employment; data protection and privacy; technology; and transportation. Los Angeles Business Journal, Most Admired Law Firms, 2023 – McGuireWoods was recognized among an exclusive group in the LABJ’s 2023 “Most Admired Law Firms” issue. LABJ selected 38 firms as the best to work for in the region based on factors such as company culture; employee compensation, benefits and programs; and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

The National Law Journal, ESG and Community Impact Leader Award, 2023 – McGuireWoods won an ESG and Community Impact Leader award from The National Law Journal, marking the second year in a row the firm was honored for social responsibility and pro bono initiatives and for responding to growing client demand for guidance on environmental, social and corporate governance issues.

OneJustice, Champions of Justice Award, 2023 – McGuireWoods was a winner of the 2023 OneJustice Champions of Justice Awards, along with Bank of America and California Rural Legal Assistance, for their pro bono collaboration helping low-income California residents petition to expunge misdemeanor criminal records.

U.S. News-Best Lawyers, Best Law Firms, 2023 – McGuireWoods earned first-tier national rankings in 23 practice areas and metropolitan Tier 1 rankings in 14 cities in the 2023 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms,” the annual report compiled from client feedback and peer reviews.

The American Lawyer, Industry Awards, 2022 – McGuireWoods is a finalist for The American Lawyer Industry Awards in three categories: Legal Services Innovation, Best Business Team and Best Provider Collaboration. The annual awards program honors exceptional work across the legal services spectrum.

The Best Lawyers in America, 2022 – In the 2022 edition, 197 attorneys from the firm’s U.S. offices were included in Best Lawyers. Among the honorees, 30 were in the area of Banking and Finance Law, reflecting the depth and experience of the firm’s nationally recognized corporate finance practices. The firm also had 29 lawyers recognized in Commercial Litigation. BTI Consulting Group, Associate Satisfaction A-Listers, 2022 – McGuireWoods ranked among the top law firms in attributes associates value most in deriving high levels of career satisfaction. McGuireWoods ranked among the top 5% of all firms for providing associates the best opportunity to grow within their firms and was rated among the leaders for helping women associates in their careers, helping women associates develop a career path and providing all associates with the best access to training. The report named McGuireWoods among the firms with the highest number of “extremely satisfied” associates, including women associates, and gave the firm high marks for mentoring those lawyers.

BTI Consulting Group, Client Service A-Team, 2022 – McGuireWoods ranked among the elite law firms for client service for the 16th time in BTI Consulting’s 2022 Client Service A-Team. McGuireWoods is one of only five firms to rank among the top 30 for 10 consecutive years in BTI’s annual survey of law firm performance.

National Veterans Legal Services Program, Pro Bono Partner of the Year Award, 2022 – McGuireWoods’ Veteran Lawyers Network was honored with the NVLSP Pro Bono Partner of the Year Award, recognizing pro bono services provided by McGuireWoods and the firm’s commitment to serving veterans.

Pro Bono Institute, Corporate Pro Bono Partner Award, 2022 – McGuireWoods, Dominion Energy and VCU Health were honored by the Pro Bono Institute for their medical-legal partnership to help low-income patients and families in the Richmond, Virginia, area.

BTI Consulting Group, 43 Law Firms Clients Say Are Winning in the COVID-19 World – Corporate counsel included McGuireWoods in a select group of law firms that are “leading the pack” guiding clients through the COVID-19 pandemic, according to BTI Consulting Group. BTI’s findings were based on interviews with top legal decision makers at large companies across industries.

The Best Lawyers in America, 2020 – Nineteen McGuireWoods lawyers were named 2020 “Lawyers of the Year” by The Best Lawyers in America, an honor given to only one lawyer in each practice area per city. In addition, 192 lawyers from McGuireWoods’ U.S. offices were selected by their peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers. Among those honored, 28 are listed in the area of Banking and Finance Law, the most of any firm in the nation. This marks the seventh year in row that McGuireWoods has earned this distinction, a testament to the depth and experience of the firm’s corporate finance practices. The American Lawyer, Global Legal Awards and Industry Awards, 2019 – McGuireWoods was a Global Legal Awards finalist for “Litigation/Dispute Resolution of the Year” for winning a half-billion-dollar judgment for the parents of Otto Warmbier in their lawsuit alleging the North Korean regime tortured and killed their son. McGuireWoods also was a finalist for “Best Business Team” in the Industry Awards for creating a business development strategy that enables lawyers to introduce companies and investors to deal opportunities.

Bank of America, Law Firm Pro Bono Award, 2019 – Bank of America honored McGuireWoods with its annual Law Firm Pro Bono Award. McGuireWoods and Bank of America have collaborated on pro bono programs to address the legal needs of vulnerable populations in communities across the United States. Over the past year, McGuireWoods, Bank of America and other corporate and law firm attorneys have volunteered to assist understaffed legal aid organizations in areas such as housing, healthcare enrollment, domestic violence prevention, veterans benefits and estate planning.

BTI Consulting Group, Brand Elite, 2019 – For the seventh straight year, corporate counsel rated McGuireWoods among the top law firms with the strongest brands in BTI Consulting’s Brand Elite Report.
