Concerns Seep Through EPA Petroleum Vapor Guidance

July 8, 2015

McGuireWoods partners Jim Thornhill, Benne Hutson, and Don Anderson penned this article discussing the final Technical Guide for Addressing Petroleum Vapor Intrusion at Leaking Underground Storage Tank Sites, which the Environmental Protection Agency released on June 11, 2015. Specifically, their article describes the scope of the guidance, and summarizes some of its contents, including the types of chemicals covered and the process for screening out sites. The article also outlines some lingering questions and concerns with the new guidance, including that it does not clearly tell responsible parties how to handle sites that are already closed.
