Market leader for semiconductors and system solutions

McGuireWoods was co-counsel to a market leader for semiconductors and system solutions in this patent infringement case. At the first trial, our client was granted judgments of non-infringement, prevailed on its counterclaim for fraud, and was awarded punitive damages, an anti-suit injunction and $7.1 million in attorneys’ fees. Portions of the verdict were overturned by the Federal Circuit, and the case was remanded for a second trial. In motions leading up to the second trial, Infineon prevailed on its motion that the defendant intentionally destroyed documents relevant to the litigation. In the ensuing bench trial, the court found the defendant guilty of unclean hands and dismissed the patent case against our client.
