Law360 Highlights McGuireWoods’ Initiatives to Support Lawyers Returning From Parental Leave

September 28, 2016

In a Sept. 26 article titled “5 Ways BigLaw Is Helping Parents Get Back To Work,” Law360 highlights various initiatives McGuireWoods has implemented to support lawyers returning from parental leave. The article noted that on their return from parental leave McGuireWoods provides all associates a six-month phase-in period, during which their billable-hour targets are reduced with no effect on their compensation.

In discussing examples of firm mentorship and education programs, Law360 wrote that McGuireWoods recently expanded its initiative to designate a lawyer liaison for each of its U.S. offices to support firm lawyers before, during and after parental leave. The article recognizes many of the firm’s benefits, stating, “McGuireWoods also offers backup child care, as well as adoption financial reimbursement, flex time and reduced hours for working parents and paid parental leave, including 18 weeks’ paid leave for male and female associates who are primary caregivers, whether it is for childbirth, adoption or foster child placement.”
