David Kirk Discusses Corporate Crisis Response on BBC’s The Bottom Line

July 19, 2017

London partner David Kirk (Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation) participated as a guest speaker on a July 13 episode of BBC Radio 4’s The Bottom Line, a business talk show hosted by English journalist Evan Davis. The episode — titled “Who’s Sorry Now?” — explores business leaders’ handling of recent corporate crises.

Kirk, who served as chief criminal counsel at the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority before joining McGuireWoods in 2014, shared his dual perspective on how company leaders and employees can prevent crises and mitigate reputational damage should a crisis occur.

Recognizing that “there’s a big push to get accountability at the senior level” of corporate management, Kirk noted the importance of empowering employees at all levels to solve problems before a crisis occurs.

In addition to Kirk and Davis, the 30-minute program featured commentary by Mark Shelby, co-founder of Mexican restaurant chain Wahaca, and Paul Charles, CEO and founder of reputation management consulting firm The PC Agency.
