McGuireWoods Also Announces Plans to Expand London Presence

McGuireWoods LLP announced today that the partnerships of both McGuireWoods and the London-based international law firm Grundberg Mocatta Rakison LLP (GMR) have unanimously approved the combination of their two firms in London, effective immediately. In addition to officially opening its London office, McGuireWoods announced today that it is expanding the size of the office by 50-percent and is hiring two additional attorneys to work in London.

“We are very excited about our new office,” said Richard Cullen, chairman of McGuireWoods. “A London office has been a strategic goal for McGuireWoods for a number of years. We could not ask for a better group of attorneys to join with than the lawyers at GMR.”

The combination of McGuireWoods and GMR was first announced in March. The partnerships of both firms voted on the agreement earlier in the week and workers spent much of Thursday, April 30, changing over the signage in the Imperial House office on Kingsway to reflect the McGuireWoods name.

As announced in March, Anders Grundberg, founder and senior partner with GMR, will assume the title of managing partner of the firm’s London office, while McGuireWoods Vice Chairman Peter Covington has officially relocated his practice to London. He will continue to represent firm clients in the United States as well as expanding his practice throughout Europe.
