McGuireWoods Partner Harrison Marshall Receives Renaissance Lawyer Award

June 23, 2014

Harrison Marshall Jr., a corporate lawyer and partner in McGuireWoods LLP’s Charlotte office, has received the North Carolina Bar Association’s 2014 H. Brent McKnight Renaissance Lawyer Award.

The association established the award in honor of the late Judge McKnight's contributions to professionalism and the practice of law in North Carolina. The award, which was presented at the NCBA Annual Meeting in June, is given each year to one lawyer who demonstrates the "Renaissance Lawyer" qualities embodied by Judge McKnight, including trustworthiness, respectful and courteous treatment of all people, enthusiasm for intellectual achievement, a commitment to excellence in work, and service to the profession and community. E. Osborne Ayscue Jr., also a lawyer in McGuireWoods’ Charlotte office, received the award in 2007.

Marshall represents large corporations, emerging growth companies, venture capital and private equity funds, and colleges and universities in corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance issues, and investments and divestitures. He chairs McGuireWoods’ finance committee and is a former member of the firm’s board of partners. Prior to entering private practice, he served as captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. He was an Elliott Cheatham Scholar at Vanderbilt University Law School and a Samuel Bell Scholar at Davidson College.
