July 2, 2014

Jeffrey Rothschild has joined McGuireWoods LLP’s Corporate Department as a partner in the firm’s New York office, where he will focus on representing financial advisors in securities and corporate matters, as well as private and public mergers and acquisitions transactions.

Rothschild brings more than 15 years of experience in publicly traded mergers and acquisitions and has represented companies with dispositions and other general corporate and securities matters. He regularly advises clients on issues such as fiduciary duties analysis, disclosure philosophy and compliance with federal securities laws.

At Rothschild’s prior law firm, he was a partner in the New York office and led the firm’s financial advisory practice, helping to build it into one of the top 15 financial advisory practices ranked by Corporate Control Alert. His clients include bulge bracket, top middle market firms, as well as premier boutique investment banks in rendering fairness, solvency and valuation opinions. He also previously worked as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in the mergers and acquisitions group.

“Jeff’s wide-ranging experience in securities, corporate and financial matters and his demonstrated experience representing financial advisors makes him a valuable addition to our team,” said Richard Viola, chair of McGuireWoods’ Securities Department. “We are delighted to have him join the firm.”

“Jeff represents clients in various industries, including healthcare, energy, retail and telecommunications,” said Philip Goldstein, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “His knowledge of corporate matters facing these sectors will enhance the work we do for clients in New York and across the country.”

Rothschild earned his MBA and law degree in 1997 from Georgetown University and Georgetown University Law Center, where he was associate editor of the American Criminal Law Review. He is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. He is a member of the board of directors of Jewish Home LifeCare, a nonsectarian, nonprofit long-term care facility in New York City.
