McGuireWoods New York Lawyers Named 2014 New York Metro ‘Super Lawyers’ and ‘Rising Stars’

Five partners from McGuireWoods LLP’s New York office have been named New York Metro “Super Lawyers” for 2014, and three of the firm’s lawyers have been named New York Metro “Rising Stars.” Lawyer rating service Super Lawyers will publish this year’s survey findings in its New York Metro Super Lawyers magazine, as well as in the Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 issue of The New York Times.

McGuireWoods’ 2014 New York Metro “Super Lawyers”:

  • Marshall Beil, Business Litigation. Beil has broad experience in litigation, intellectual property, corporate services, real estate and trusts and estates. He has represented clients at numerous trials and arbitrations in complex commercial, intellectual property, breach of contract, trade secret, unfair competition, post-conviction death penalty habeas corpus, and public interest cases in federal and state courts and before domestic and international arbitration panels nationwide.
  • Michael J. DiMattia, Employment and Labor. DiMattia leads the firm’s employment law group in New York. He represents management in every aspect of the employer-employee relationship, including the defense of employment discrimination actions and common law employment litigation.
  • James Gelman, Banking. Gelman represents commercial banks, investment banks and other financial institutions in their capacity as agents and lenders, as well as corporate borrowers, in a variety of financing transactions, including secured and unsecured lending, acquisition financing, bridge financing, cross-border transactions, corporate restructurings, workouts and other leveraged financings.
  • Philip Goldstein, Class Action. Goldstein is managing partner of the firm’s New York office. He litigates in a wide range of high-profile industries and business sectors, including energy (particularly natural gas and mineral rights), as well as complex commercial litigation, mass torts and products liability.
  • Yvette G. Harmon, Energy and Resources . Harmon focuses on energy matters ranging from oil and gas royalty issues to corporate transactions and various class actions in federal and state courts nationwide.

  • Leon A. Yel, Securities and Corporate Finance . Yel’s practice focuses on corporate lending, including syndicated financings, club loan facilities and bilateral loan arrangements. He has represented agents, arrangers, lenders, borrowers, hedge funds and private equity funds in financings for acquisitions, leveraged recapitalizations and other corporate purposes

As part of the selection process, Super Lawyers identifies candidates through independent research and by inviting lawyers in each state to nominate the best attorneys they have observed in action.
