November 2, 2015

McGuireWoods earned first-tier national rankings in 21 practice areas − including “Law Firm of the Year” in the category of Litigation - Banking and Finance − in the 2016 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” The firm also placed among the top 20 U.S. firms with the most metropolitan Tier 1 rankings in the annual report, which is based on client feedback.

McGuireWoods’ top national ranking for banking and finance litigation underscores the full range of capabilities the firm deploys for its financial services industry clients. Last year, McGuireWoods was recognized as “Law Firm of the Year” for Banking and Finance Law for its work representing banks and financial institutions in lending transactions.

“We are very proud of the deep and experienced team we have built and the results our lawyers deliver for our clients,” said Brad Kutrow, who chairs McGuireWoods’ Financial Services Litigation Department. “It is especially meaningful to earn this recognition by helping our clients work through unprecedented challenges in the financial services industry and earning their trust.”

The U.S. News-Best Lawyers report is based on client and lawyer evaluations, peer review from attorneys in their field, and a review of information provided by law firms as part of the formal submission process. Clients were asked to provide feedback on firm practice groups, addressing expertise, responsiveness, understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and whether they would refer another client to the firm.

With the most recent results, McGuireWoods holds the most tier-one practice group rankings of any Virginia law firm. This comes weeks after McGuireWoods had the most Virginia lawyers listed in The Best Lawyers in America for 2016. The firm’s complete national and metropolitan practice rankings can be found here.
