McGuireWoods Dallas Lawyers Named Texas Super Lawyers ‘Rising Stars’ for 2015

March 10, 2015

Three McGuireWoods lawyers from the firm’s Dallas office have been named Texas Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” for 2015, which recognizes top up-and-coming lawyers 40 years old or younger or lawyers who have been practicing 10 or fewer years.

McGuireWoods’ 2015 Texas Super Lawyers “Rising Stars”:

  • Meadow Clendenin, Business/Corporate. Clendenin advises mezzanine and senior secured investors in negotiating and documenting bilateral, agented and syndicated credit facilities, debt financings and equity investments. She also has experience in the growing Shariah-compliant finance sector. Before practicing law, Clendenin was an assistant vice president at a Fortune 500 risk and insurance consultancy, where she served emerging and middle-market technology clients.
  • Aaron J. Pickell, Intellectual Property. Pickell focuses on technology transactions, patent prosecution and litigation, and general intellectual property counseling. He drafts and negotiates a variety of commercial agreements, including manufacturing and supply, joint development, and outsourcing agreements. Pickell also drafts and prosecutes patents in the electrical, mechanical and software arts, including patent applications for medical devices, oil and gas tooling and control systems, computer systems, mobile devices, MEMS, and semiconductor processing systems. His intellectual property experience includes trademark prosecution and portfolio management, copyright enforcement, licensing, and enforcement of rights of publicity.
  • Cedric Powell, Mergers and Acquisitions. Powell focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, securities offerings and compliance, and cross-border transactions. He represents individuals and entities that operate or have investments in a variety of industries, including commercial aviation, animal byproduct rendering, wind turbine manufacturing, food manufacturing, food services, oil field services, automobile emissions testing, manufacturing and distribution, telecommunications, infrastructure management and real estate development.

The lawyer rating service Super Lawyers will publish the recognition of the three lawyers in its annual survey results in its Texas Super Lawyers magazine and in the April 2015 issue of Texas Monthly magazine.

A Thomson Reuters publication, Super Lawyers identifies candidates through independent research and by inviting lawyers in each state to nominate the best attorneys they have observed in action. A lawyer-led research staff evaluates candidates on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Candidates also undergo peer review by practice area.
