Kate W. Hardey has joined McGuireWoods’ healthcare practice as a partner in
the firm’s Tysons Corner, Virginia office, bringing substantial experience advising clients in all types of healthcare transactions, as well as regulatory
and compliance matters.
Hardey comes to McGuireWoods from GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services in Bethesda, Maryland, where she served as senior counsel. In that role, she
advised senior management, financial risk teams and special clinical teams on regulatory risks in lending transactions involving providers in all facets of
the healthcare industry. She also evaluated financial and compliance risks associated with federal and state investigations, False Claims Act litigation
and U.S. Food and Drug Administration manufacturing compliance and product approvals.
Hardey previously was hospital counsel to two Washington D.C.– area hospitals in the MedStar Health System, managing all day-to-day legal needs and
advising the board of directors on governance and compliance issues. She also has extensive private practice experience advising pharmaceutical and medical
device manufacturers on regulatory and compliance matters.

Hardey earned her bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in 1991 and her master’s degree in healthcare management from Marymount University in
1999. She earned her law degree from The Catholic University of America in 2003.
