New Partner William Boddy Promoted in Litigation Practice of McGuireWoods London

January 9, 2018

William Boddy has been promoted to partner in the litigation practice at international law firm McGuireWoods with effect from 1 January, 2018. The partnership promotion is the first at the London office of the firm and is evidence of the firm’s strong and continued growth over the past few years. Boddy’s promotion brings the number of partners in McGuireWoods’ UK litigation practice to three and the number of partners in the London office to 17.

Boddy’s practice focuses primarily on cross-border commercial litigation, shareholder disputes and insolvency litigation. The Legal 500 recommends the London litigation practice and Boddy will work alongside Hardeep Nahal, who is ranked as a leading individual in both the Legal 500 UK and Chambers Europe directories.

“William’s promotion is evidence of the quality of work flowing through the litigation practice as well as the hard work he has put in on behalf of clients and I congratulate him on his achievement,” said London office managing partner Dan Peyton. “The promotion strikes a great note for the firm to ring in the new year and symbolizes the progress the London office has made to be in a position to promote internally.

“Our strategy is all about getting the right people in the right areas of practice in the firm,” Peyton added. “Given the high quality of our London associates we were delighted to see that four of our associates were singled out for recognition in the 2017 edition of Legal 500. We are confident that this will be the first of many similar promotions.

“In the London office, we do not measure growth simply by the number of partners in the firm, but in terms of the strength of expertise and depth of experience we offer in the key areas of importance to us, namely litigation, corporate/M&A and debt finance,” he said.

During 2017, the firm made a number of strategic lateral hires in these key areas including M&A partner Jeremy Davis, debt finance partner Jennifer Kafcas and leveraged finance partner Lorraine Vaz.
