Christi Davis, an accomplished corporate lawyer who provided strategic guidance to leaders at one of the nation’s largest financial institutions, has joined McGuireWoods’ securities practice in Pittsburgh.

Davis comes to the firm from The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., where she was managing chief counsel and corporate secretary. She advised PNC’s board of directors and executive management on corporate governance issues, oversaw implementation of board decisions and ensured compliance with securities rules and regulations. She previously served as senior counsel supporting PNC’s asset and liability management group, coordinating debt, equity and hybrid securities offerings. Before joining PNC in 2009, Davis was a partner in Reed Smith’s corporate and securities group.

As senior counsel at McGuireWoods, Davis will represent companies in debt and equity securities offerings as well as M&A transactions. She will advise corporate secretaries, boards of directors and general counsel on federal securities reporting requirements, listing requirements for public exchanges, and other corporate governance matters.

“Christi is a highly respected securities and deal lawyer and trusted advisor on high-level corporate governance issues,” said Greg Kilpatrick, chair of McGuireWoods’ Securities & Capital Markets Department. “Her business acumen and boardroom experience will provide enormous advantages to our clients.”

“We have tremendous respect for Christi’s accomplishments in private practice and at PNC,” added David Hornyak, managing partner of the firm’s Pittsburgh office. “She is an important addition for us as we continue our strategic expansion in Pittsburgh.”

McGuireWoods’ securities and capital markets lawyers have earned global recognition for representing public companies, corporate issuers and underwriters in complex corporate and securities matters. The firm ranked among the top 10 law firms for advising corporate issuers and underwriters in U.S. capital markets transactions during the first quarter of 2018, according to definitive league tables published by Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg.

“McGuireWoods has a powerhouse corporate practice with a well-deserved reputation for innovation and client-service excellence,” Davis said. “The firm has an outstanding team in Pittsburgh, and I can’t think of a better place to return to private practice.”
