Amanda L. Armistead Sr. VP, Federal Public Affairs McGuireWoods Consulting LLC

Amanda is a senior vice president in the federal public affairs group at McGuireWoods Consulting where she focuses her practice on legislative and regulatory matters that primarily impact clients in the developing digital economy and emerging technology sectors, with a special focus on unmanned aerial systems (UAS) policy. She represents clients before Congress and federal agencies to advance policies that reflect the impact of rapidly developing emerging technologies and a changing economy, including digital privacy, e-commerce and internet governance.

Earlier in her career, Amanda served as assistant vice president at a leading boutique Washington federal affairs firm led by former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt (D-MO). In that capacity, she played a critical role in the campaign to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank that resulted in the first successful discharge petition on the House floor since 2002. The campaign included not only tactical congressional strategy for nearly every member of both the House and the Senate, but also grassroots and grasstops advocacy to build an echo chamber of support for reauthorization.

Amanda graduated with honors from Wake Forest University with a degree in political science and German. While at Wake Forest, she spent a semester in Vienna, Austria and worked at the campaign headquarters for a Democratic presidential candidate. She lives in Arlington, Virginia.
