Emanuel Cernat joined McGuireWoods Romania in August 2014 as public affairs coordinator. Given his 12 years of experience in various assignments with the Romanian government, he brings significant added value to our team's expertise in domestic and international affairs. Emanuel also provides timely political assessments on topics relevant to the key business operations of our clients and business development matters in strategic sectors.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Emanuel served as a diplomat. Since 2007, he has worked as an advisor to several Foreign Ministers. He also held the position of diplomatic counselor to a number of Ministers in charge with regional development, business environment and tourism. During his diplomatic tenure, he was exposed to several key foreign investments, attended trade missions and worked closely with Romanian embassies abroad and foreign embassies in Romania to strengthen commercial relations. Emanuel also had the opportunity to develop projects as part of his previous assignments with the United Nations Development Program in Romania, as well as in the Ministry for European Integration. He has successfully represented high-level institutions by running and coordinating policy initiatives and interagency coordination for large-scale events.
With a Ph.D. in television and audio-video communication, as well as an MA in project management and a BA in communication and public relations, Emanuel's professional and academic background reinforces his solid government relations expertise, understanding of commercial diplomacy and excellent communciation skills.
