Kristen practices in the area of complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property and antitrust litigation. She has litigated patent, trademark, false advertising, trade dress, dilution, copyright and trade secret matters and provides advice to clients in intellectual property matters, including advice on advertising.
She has also worked on a number of antitrust litigation matters, including class actions, and has participated in antitrust audits and in representing clients before the U.S. Department of Justice.
Kristen also has significant experience in discovery and management of the e-discovery process, including managing large document collections and review, negotiating and litigating difficult discovery disputes, and the preparation and defense of privilege logs.
Before joining McGuireWoods, Kristen clerked for the Honorable Rebecca Beach Smith, of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. She was a member of Pi Alpha Sigma at The College of William & Mary.
Kristen also regularly provides free legal advice to clients through Central Virginia Legal Aid. Since 2012, she has served on the Outreach Committee of Redeemer Episcopal Church and has organized 4 to 6 blood drives each year. Kristen also served on the board for Roxshire Civic Association in 2012-2015.

Representation of DuPont in trade secrets case involving Kevlar®. After eight-week trial, jury awarded DuPont $919.9 million, the largest verdict in Virginia history. (E.D. Va.)
Prosecution and defense of false advertising claims on behalf of biopharmaceutical company (E.D. Va.).
Representation of a healthcare insurer in an action brought by the American Chiropractic Association, the Virginia Chiropractic Association and several chiropractors. The plaintiffs alleged a conspiracy in violation of the federal and state antitrust laws, attempted monopolization, a RICO violation, tortious interference, a common law conspiracy, breach of contract, and violation of state law. Our client obtained a total dismissal of all of the plaintiffs’ claims through a summary judgment motion, which subsequently was affirmed by the Fourth Circuit.
Representation of transportation company in multimillion dollar arbitration involving breach of contract claims, resulting in favorable decision.
Representation of a healthcare insurer in a DOJ antitrust investigation relating to the insurer’s contracting practices. We were effective in persuading the DOJ that the investigation should be closed and no enforcement action should be taken.
Participated in numerous antitrust audits for a manufacturer of its various U.S. and international business units.
