K. Issac deVyver Partner

Issac's practice focuses primarily on complex civil litigation and class-action lawsuits involving banks, loan servicers, credit card companies and financial institutions.

He has substantial experience handling individual mortgage actions and mortgage class actions, having handled well over one hundred of those cases. He also maintains a complex and general civil litigation practice. Issac practices in both state and federal courts nationwide, and has first and second chaired several jury and non-jury trials.


Defense of one of the country’s largest loan servicers in a mortgage class action in federal court that spanned over six years, including a number of appeals, by defeating the class action after an evidentiary hearing.

Representation of securities lending agents in more than a dozen actions in state and federal court all around the country with damages ranging from $10 million to over $100 million, all arising from the 2007-2008 worldwide financial crisis.

Enforcement of arbitration clauses and class-action waivers on behalf of banks and credit card companies all over the United States, most recently in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and in Ohio state court.

Defense of a bank client in breach of contract and specific performance action arising from failed portfolio acquisition in which the plaintiff ultimately voluntarily dismissed its claims without a settlement.

Representation of bank client in class action filed in Ohio state court, with case ending in individual settlement and dismissal with prejudice.

Successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of the bank client in multi-million dollar action to collect on certificate of deposit, and successfully defended judgment on appeal.

Defense of clients in lawsuit by former employees for alleged breaches of five long-term incentive plans.

Defense of Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, Inc.’s (MERS) right to act as mortgagee and beneficiary in state, federal and bankruptcy courts all over the country, including in a consolidated appeal of more than 20 bankruptcy actions.

Representation of client in FCRA class action in federal court ending in individual settlements and dismissal.
