Tyler "Ty" Ford is an associate in the North Carolina state government relations group. In this role, he assists clients in the developing digital economy and emerging technology sectors with legislative tracking services, policy issues, and a variety of other legislative and economic projects. Tyler is involved in many client issues ranging from education, healthcare, transportation, financing and bonds, and general legislative committees.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Tyler served in Washington D.C. in the Obama Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy in the Office of Secretary Ernest Moniz and Deputy Secretary Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall after working in the Department’s Office of Economic Development.
Tyler served on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) where he specialized in energy, homeland security, and foreign relations with Nigeria and Pakistan. At the state level, he served in the offices of North Carolina State Senators Dan Blue and Paul Lowe Jr.
Tyler also possesses financial services experience in venture capital, real estate investments, and private equity after working as a former summer associate at Cherokee Investment Partners.
Tyler is heavily involved in the startup and tech scene in the Triangle Area. He has won pitch competitions and various awards for his work in creating apps that tackle economic inequalities.
He is a member of the Young Associates of the History Museum and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. Tyler is a native of Stone Mountain, Georgia and a graduate of The Paideia School.
