Brooks focuses on complex commercial litigation, with extensive experience in class and representative actions. He represents financial services companies, telecommunications providers, real estate investors, consumer product manufacturers, and others in federal and state courts, in all phases of litigation, at trial and on appeal, with claims at issue from less than $1 million to more than $1 billion.

Brooks joined the firm in 2010, after 13 years with Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, in Los Angeles. Brooks began his legal career with Morrison & Foerster, LLP. At Loyola Law School, Brooks was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, a member of the Dean’s Honor List, and the recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award.

Obtained summary judgment against wholesale distributor in favor of telecommunications provider, on claims that the provider promised a “partnership” beyond the scope of the distributorship agreement. The District Court’s grant of summary judgment was affirmed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In mass action against financial institution alleging unlawful foreclosure practices obtained dismissal of all claims following 12(b)(6) motion.

Obtained dismissal of class claims against lending institution alleging unfair business practices from use of interest rate disclosure provisions in consumer credit agreements.

Obtained a nine-figure jury verdict on wireless carrier’s countersuit against class of plaintiffs alleging unfair competition against the carrier.

Obtained summary judgment against all class representatives, then obtained statewide settlement of class action alleging breach of warranty by real estate developer.

Obtained terminating sanctions against plaintiff in a federal action alleging claims against telecommunications provider resulting from alleged identity theft.

Obtained judgment against attempted seller of copyrighted works on behalf of non-profit organization with rights of first purchase.

Obtained dismissal of RICO claims, and summary judgment of companion state law claims against defense contractor arising from sale of military equipment in foreign sovereign.
