Akiesha represents and counsels clients across a broad range of industries and practice areas, with special emphasis on product liability and complex commercial litigation matters.  Akiesha has defended major retailers, manufacturers and financial institutions in both federal and state courts and under various state and federal statutes.  Her experience includes drafting and responding to substantive and procedural motions, handling all stages of written discovery, preparing and deposing witnesses, representing clients at hearings and arbitration, trial preparation, managing settlement negotiations and providing strategic counseling to clients on matters affecting nationwide litigation.  Akiesha also serves as national coordinating counsel for a major transportation company and is a member of the firm’s appeals and issues group. 

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Akiesha clerked for Judge D. Michael Fisher of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  While in law school, Akiesha interned for Judge David S. Cercone of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, served as Senior Topics Editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review and represented immigrants seeking asylum and facing removal from the United States as a Certified Legal Intern in the Immigration Law Clinic.

Akiesha was selected to represent the firm in the 2017 class of Pathfinders for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (“LCLD”).  She is also active in firm pro bono efforts and the Allegheny County Bar Association.  In the community, she serves as an Ambassador for the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and is a mentor to local law students through the LCLD Success in Law School Mentoring Program.
