Alexander represents financial technology companies on legal, regulatory, and product development initiatives related to consumer lending, money transmission, and real estate financing products.
Alexander regularly serves as outside product counsel where he advises clients on lending and licensing requirements and applicable legal and regulatory risk. Alexander also counsels fintech clients by overseeing inquiries from state-regulatory agencies, state AGs, and the CFPB related to lending and servicing practices and enforcement actions. Alexander also represents consumer financial companies during the application process for a special purpose national bank charter issued by the OCC.
In addition to his fintech practice, Alexander regularly represents financial institutions in mortgage lending, automobile financing, and credit card servicing relating to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Truth in Lending Act, and unfair business practice laws.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Alexander worked in the legal department of a professional sports organization in San Francisco, gaining a broad range of transactional and compliance experience.
Before law school, Alexander worked for a U.S. Senator in Washington, D.C. and served as anchor and producer of a college sports television show in Boston.
Negotiated numerous favorable settlements while representing financial institutions in individual actions involving mortgage-banking litigation.
Advised financial services client on lending product and drafted subsequent retail installment contracts.
