Edward focuses his practice within the financial services industry representing banks at the trial and appellate levels in civil litigation arising out of mortgage-related disputes.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Edward served as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert C. Hunter and the Honorable Robert N. Hunter, Jr. at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.  After leaving the Court of Appeals, Edward practiced domestic law with a particular interest in interstate child custody disputes and served on the Appeals Monitor Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Family Law Section, informing bar members of the latest developments in North Carolina domestic law.

Edward took an unconventional path to his law practice at McGuireWoods with previous careers in molecular biology, researching the genetic regulation of virulence factors of bacterial pathogens in the lungs of Cystic Fibrosis patients; information technology, managing software development projects in the travel and insurance industries; and, yachting, delivering sail and motor yachts within Europe, the U.S., and the Caribbean, including a trans-Atlantic delivery from Stockholm, Sweden to Lake Superior.

Edward’s involvement in the Charlotte community has included his service on the Steering Committee for the Charlotte chapter of the Human Rights Campaign advocating for LGBT equality and the Resource Development Committee for The Relatives, an organization that serves at-risk youth and young adults in Mecklenburg County, where he also serves as a volunteer mentor.
